Abstract: ERP projects tend to follow life-cycles with several phases, yet the change aspect of an ERP project continues throughout it. Organizations therefore need to plan for change when they plan for implementation. This article identifies several essential and integrated cultural and change management components associated with ERP implementations. These components are classified as four types: organizational roadblocks, individual resistance to change, training and education and communication. Problems and resistance are examined and discussed, for each type, and potential solutions are provided. Relationships among the four types are illustrated throughout the article.
